THE BIBLE - CAN WE UNDERSTAND IT ALIKE

Have you ever heard someone say that we cannot understand the Bible alike? Do you realize that is a terrible indictment of the fairness of God? Why would God give man a law, that applies to all equally, that he could not interpret the same? Peter tells us that God wants all to come to repentance, and that He has revealed all things that pertain to life and godliness (II Pet. 3:9;II Pet. 1:3). Paul speaks of our being able to understand the mystery of the gospel when we read (Eph. 3:4). All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, reproof, correction and instruction in righteousness (II Tim. 3:16). It is the word that will judge us (Jno. 12:48). Jesus will take vengeance on those who obey not the gospel (II Thess. 1:7-9). We are told that God is faithful (Reliable), and that "God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?"(I Cor. 1:9, Num. 23:19).

God is not a respecter of persons (Acts 10:34). We see from the above scriptures that He has revealed his will and expects man to obey it. Our own interpretation will not suffice (Mt. 7:21-23) Isn't it time we quit making excuses for our differences in religion and seek the correct understanding of the Bible?
