THE WORD
David said "Thy word have I laid up in my heart, that I might not sin against thee" (Psalms 119:11). He further stated "Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and light unto my path. " (Psalms 119:105). Timothy was told to "Preach the word! Be ready in season and out of season. Convince, rebuke, exhort, with all longsuffering and teaching" (II Timothy 4:2). We are instructed that "the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart" (Hebrews 4:12), and Peter writes "as newborn babes, desire the pure milk of the word, that you may grow thereby" (I Peter 2:2).
Strict obedience to the word of God is the only hope for man. From the beginning man has found that disobedience brings punishment (Genesis 3:14-19). Man has never had the right to decide for himself what pleases God (Deut. 12:32; Rev. 22:18,19; Mt. 7:21). We live in a nation (and world) that increasingly thumbs it's nose at God, or the necessity of obedience to His word. Those who follow man made religions, by the statement "we can't understand the bible alike", mock his word. Those who say, "One church is as good as another", mock his church. His law on baptism is mocked when men say, "we are saved by faith only". Those who "preach everyone into heaven" mock his judgment.
We call upon all men to take God seriously. History has many examples of the consequences which came upon men, and nations who rejected God. It can and will happen to us if we continue to mock him. "Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap" (Gal. 6:7).
